Richard B. Cheney a distinguished public servant and businessman is vice-president of the United States. Cheney was well-known on the Washington political scene. George W. Bush was his fourth U.S. President. Bush has nominated Cheney as his vice-presidential run-off partner in July 2000. Bush cited Cheney's wisdom as well as his judgment and expertise. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff for the president. He also served as an elected Member of Congress as well as the secretary of defense. He's a man of integrity who is respected by Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney said he views the role of an honest yet discreet advisor to the Bush administration. Cheney stated that, when he accepted the Republican nomination to vice-president, he looked forward to working alongside a President who works with all parties to reach his objectives and cooperate with opposition members in confidence. Richard Bruce Cheney (born January 30, 1941) was the son of Richard Herbert Cheney. His mother, Marjorie Lauraine Dickey had been wed to Richard Herbert Cheney for over 30 years. When he was 13 years old, he emigrated along with his parents to Casper within the Western region of Wyoming and his father was the director of the local district of soil conservation for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
