Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 at the Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi, the Romanian gymnastics teacher who later became Comaneci's coach who first came across Comaneci aged six. She took part in the Romanian Junior Championships and placed 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. The first time she competed in an international competition that was an Olympic-style junior preolympic competition for countries in the Communist bloc, she was awarded three gold medals. In 1973 and 1975 she was crowned all-around Junior Champion. In 1975, she took home four golds and one silver at her first senior competition. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European champion. In 1976, she was the first person in the world who used a double backwards salto in order to take off parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. In her teens she was performing on travelling shows such as Ice Capades as a skater together with her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne was a born on the 6th of September, 1942 in Chicago Illinois. Carol began her career in the world of entertainment when she was a teenager. Her first professional gig was figure skating alongside Nina Wayne, her younger sister as part of traveling entertainment show Ice Capades. The show featured stage-moving ice-skating performances.
